Various welfare schemes are being run by Social Welfare Department under welfare sector for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes/De-notified tribes which are mainly categorized under educational, economic, social and other schemes like scholarship schemes, book bank schemes for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, Fee Reimbursement Scheme, Non-Recurring Help Scheme, facilities related with technical education, special scholarship scheme for the people involved in insanitary profession under Central Sponsored Scheme.

Schemes being run by Social Welfare Department include - Scholarship scheme for scheduled castes/scheduled tribes/de-notified tribes, people of general castes living as Below Poverty Level, scheme related with economical support to the voluntary organizations against the education being imparted by them, Scheme related with the maintenance of Government Upgraded Settlements, scheme related with the execution of Scheduled Caste Atrocities Prevention Act-1979, operation of schools based on Ashram pattern and hostels, Marriage/Treatment grant scheme to the people belong to scheduled castes. Apart from the above, Self-Employment Scheme by Scheduled Caste Finance and Development Corporation under Special Component Plan, Sanitary Mart Scheme, Shop Construction Scheme, Skill Enhancement Training Scheme and Free Boring Schemes are being run.

Grant is approved by the Social Welfare Minister from his discretional fund. Rs. 35 Lakhs have been fixed for this fund. Apart from the above, Disabled and Old Age Homes, operation of Rajkiya Bhikshuk Grih is being operated and financial assistance is provided to various volunteer organizations which are working for welfare of scheduled castes. Under the National Social Help Program, few schemes have been allowed for beneficiaries under National Family Scheme like National Old Age Pension Scheme.
